About Us

Transforming challenges into opportunities has been the hallmark of the West Bengal Medical Services Corporation Limited, ever since its inception one decade ago. WBMSCL is wholly owned by the Government of West Bengal, functions under the administrative control of the Health & Family Welfare Department to the Government of West Bengal. Being the implementing agency of Department of Health & Family Welfare, the Company is a diversified infrastructure conglomerate with business interests in Designing & Construction of Hospitals, Purchasing /Acquiring of all kinds of Generic and Patent/Nonpatent Medicines, Pharmaceutical and Medical Products, Selling/Supplying medical products to various Hospitals, Health Centres and General Public, Establishing Modern Warehouse and Engineering workshops, Establishing Research and Development Centres and Institutes. Installation and maintenance of Medical Gas Pipeline Supply also comes under the purview of WBMSCL. Though WBMSCL started its journey on 4th June 2008, its full-fledged activities actually started from the financial year 2012-13. Activities of WBMSCL may be broadly categorized into: Civil, Electrical infrastructure works, O&M of assigned Health Facilities, Procurement and maintenance of High End Bio-Medical Equipment and Installation of Medical Oxygen Facilities.

Main Objects/Businesses and Operations-

1. Designing & Construction of Medical Colleges and Hospitals.

To undertake designing and construction of Hospitals and/ or other buildings for Government, or for any other person including Local Authorities, Corporations, Societies, Trusts, Companies, firm and individuals.

2. Purchasing/Acquiring of all kinds of Generic and Patent/Non-patent Medicines, Pharmaceutical and Medical Products.

To buy or otherwise acquire all kinds and varieties of generic and patent medicines, drugs ( including ISHM), mixtures, formulations, tablets, pills, powers, pharmaceutical and medical products, needles, syringes, injectables, vaccines, sera, immunogens, phylacogens, chemicals and surgical dressings, kits, equipment and instruments and to sell or supply to various hospitals and other health centers and to the General Public.

3. Purchasing/Acquiring, Distribution, Assembling, Installations, Maintenance or Otherwise deal in all types of Capital Equipments, Vehicles and Instruments.

To purchase / Acquire, Distribute, Assemble, Install, Maintain or otherwise deal in all types of Capital Equipments, Vehicles, and Instruments required in Hospitals/ Institutions / Projects/ Various Directories/ Rogi Kalyan Samitis under the Health and Family Welfare Department

4. Selling/Supplying of Medical Products to Various Hospitals, Health Centres and General Public.

To buy, sell, supply, distribute, store, stock, maintain and otherwise handle, deal in and carry on business in all kinds and varieties of patent and non patent, veterinary science, medicines, Drugs, Mixtures, formulation, capsules, tablets, pills, powder, pharmaceutical, chemical, medical and medical products, preparation and materials, sterilized injections, vaccines, immunogens, chemical and surgical dressings relating to all kinds of animal husbandry, i.e. Live-stock, veterinary, aquatic living poultry, equine, canine etc. whether domestic or otherwise.

5. Establishing Modern Warehouse and Engineering workshops.

To establish modern Warehouse and Engineering workshops to manufacture, assemble, repair or otherwise maintain various medical equipments, surgical instruments, diagnostic equipments, fire- fighting equipments, furniture and fittings including hospital furniture, and also to undertake civil and other general maintenance of hospitals.

6. To Establish Research and Development Centers and Institutes.

To establish research and development centers and institutes for medical and Para- Medical Personnel for impacting training in various Techno-Managerial fields.
